What a great melon patch! I am so jealous of those who have long enough season to grow melons! I was succesful twice... once we had a longer season and I grew some midget type watermelon, and last year I experimented with grown Minnesota Midgets in the green house! But i woulld love to be able to grow big melons in the garden!
We're growing organic heirloom vegetables on our Chicago rooftops and in our yards using homemade sub-irrigated planters (SIPs) and commercially available Earthboxes.
We also keep bees on our roofs, hens under the deck, and fermenting vegetables in our kitchens. We're glad you stopped by.
"Measured against the Problem We Face, planting a garden sounds pretty benign, I know, but in fact it's one of the most powerful things an individual can do--to reduce your carbon footprint, sure, but more important, to reduce your sense of dependence and dividedness: to change the cheap-energy mind."

Spectacular melons, Debbie, and the trellises look nice and sturdy. Most informative, your garden tour. You have a lot growing!
